  • Bhansali goes commercial

That too with a vengeance. If sources from the set of Ram Leela are to be believed, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is making sure that the film has everything an out-and-out commercial potboiler should have. Heavy duty action sequences, pelvic gyration dance numbers and over the top gloss – it’s all there. Looks like the after effects of Rowdy Rathore are still lingering. Who can blame him… the film was quite the money-spinner!

  • Poonam Pandey stated that she put her foot down against the use of a "fake MMS"

A bold film requires bold promotions: Nasha film producer

ust a day after debutante Poonam Pandey stated that she put her foot down against the use of a "fake MMS" being "leaked" to promote Nasha, a clip featuring her bathing, generated quite a buzz on social

networks. Predictably, she was upset with the developments.

Poonam said, "I'm upset that the MMS has been given out without my consent. I wasn't convinced about this promotional idea, and so had vetoed it. But I think there are other strategies to be used to keep the momentum going."

The film's producer Aditya Bhatia reasons, "Nasha is a bold film. Naturally, we have to retain the bold quotient in our promotions. I have cast Poonam Pandey for explicit content. That's the image she has. We can't be showing her as a Sati Savitri when she's playing a bold role. And don't forget, we have to deliver what Poonam's fans expect."

Further, he added that they had no agreement with the actress stating any dos and don'ts for promotion etc. "We don't have any clause in the contract stating we can't use MMS or any specific concept for the film's promotion. My director Amit Saxena and I are in agreement on the kind of promotion our film requires. We know what to show in the best interest of the film."

Nasha, produced by Eagle Home Entertainment and One Line Cinema, releases July 26.

  • Big B defends 'running around trees'

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan finds it disturbing when the "dancing around the trees" culture in Indian films is looked down upon.

Big B took to his blog to share his views on the subject.

"I often become a part of noticed debate on the culture of our films and our industry. And often have been privy to comments that not just criticise but also despise the efforts made by those who design their recall on the level of music and therefore its subsequent dance that it brings."

"The often mentioned 'dancing around the trees' comment. Yes ... it does happen, so what? So long as I am not dancing on your head, why not the tree?"

In the 70-year-old's opinion, those that "dislike it and annihilate its occurrence, must make (an) effort to enact it themselves, purely as an exercise".

"Find out what it takes to express music and its words and its feel, in the unrealistic escapist environment of our commercial film." he added.
