  • Aamir, Amitabh, Aishwarya & Abhishek attend Sachin Tendulkar's party; Shahrukh, Salman skip

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar's farewell party saw the who's who of the country attending it. Bollywood starts to politicians to cricketers and business tycoons; everyone was present to celebrate Sachin's success at a lounge in suburban Mumbai.

Those from the Bollywood included Perfectionist Aamir Khan along with wife Kiran Rao and filmmaker Karan Johar, Bachchans - Amitabh with wife Jaya, son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya, singer Asha Bhosale, Sonu Nigam, Farhan Akhtar with wife Adhuna Akhtar, Geeta Basra and Arshad Warsi with actress Mini Mathur amongst others attended the high profile party.

However, absence of Bollywood Badshah Shahrukh Khan and 'Dabangg' Salman Khan raised many an eyebrows. Interestingly Shahrukh Khan being the owner of 'Kolkata Knight Riders' in the Indian Premiere League, shares a great rapport with Sachin Tendulkar and other cricketers, thus is was tad too surprising to not see King Khan at the party.

  • I'm definitely not going to blindly marry any guy: Asin

Asin has done six films in Bollywood, out of which five are hits. And Asin has another biggie in her hand; where she is cast opposite John Abraham.

`I love being the heroine. However, I want to be known as the heroine who can act, ` says Asin, who was on a sabbatical of sorts. In a lengthy interview with CS, Asin talks about her break, films and the North- Southdivide.

    Away from the arc lights
I told my manager and team that I needed a holiday. No shooting, no appearances and no noise for some time. I just packed my bags and took off to completely cut off from this world. It was a random decision.

I have been working since my early teens, and felt that I need to get a life (laughs out loud). After the Tamil Ghajini became a blockbuster, I didn't take up anything for a few months. That patch was followed by successive hits.

The talk about the 'disappearing act' has followed me throughout my career. You see, for all the speculations and theories that fly around that time, you just smile and move on with your life the way you want to live it.

    Age no bar
My selection of projects is not based on criteria like an actor's age. If a project sounds good in totality, I take it up. And coming to your question, it would be fun to work with younger actors as well.

I am happy with the kind of films I have done so far. I am glad that I am a 'heroine'. Yes, I am yet to find a role in Bollywood that gives me scope to perform or gives me creative satisfaction as an artist.

    Bollywood vs Kollywood
There are cultural differences, which invariably reflect in working styles and expectations. I could probably do a thesis on it (laughs out loud). There are so many similarities and differences.

Let's just say balancing both the cultures is a tight ropewalk and I am grateful for having been accepted both in Bollywood and South Indian film industry.

    Love or arranged marriage?
I have an open mind. You never know when the right person comes into your life. Friends, parents or just chance encounters can introduce him to you. But that will be the extent of it, initial introduction.

Whether I will end up marrying that person depends on compatibility, chemistry and understanding. I'm definitely not going to blindly marry someone with none of the above.

  • Priyanka Chopra's new single album!

One would not know whether it is an SRK effect in an indirect manner which would have prompted Priyanka Chopra to pair with Pitbull for her new album, exotic (Pitbull was invited by SRK as a part of celebrations of IPL curtain raiser this year in Kolkata), but the album exotic does not have an element of exotic associated with it to make the fans drool over the album.

Watch Priyanka Chopra - Exotic - BluRay Music Video

The video seems to be a clever mix of the album brought out by Jeniffer Lopez and Britney Spears, even to the extent of copying the body suit that J Lo had worn for her number. The lyrics also are inane. Consider the line- Mumbai Cuba baby lets' go... one would not know whether this is a Salman effect or EK THA TIGER effect as Cuba is not a preferred choice for those who want an adventure would like to go.

It seems Priyanka Chopra indeed is following in the footsteps of Jennifer Lopez, as Jennifer Lopez had also partnered with Will.i.am, a venture that was a fiasco, then J Lo partnered with Pitbull and it gave her 2 chart buster songs in US chart. Priyanka's choice of Pitbull could also have been guided by this aspect as well. While Priyanka could draw satisfaction from the fact that her ''Exotic'' is number 1 song in the India, it is yet to make its presence felt in the US charts.

The rendition done by Priyanka Chopra seems to be guided by the premise that a twanged accent could draw in the fans from the western world but it is not happening so far. Instead of being exotic, it seems more out of place.
For Priyanka Chopra, who has tried to be as hot as possible in the exotic number, if she really wanted to project an exotic look, she should have leveraged on the Indian notion of ''hot'' and told the world what ''hot'' is as per the Indian approach and it being an original idea, she would not have been battered by the fans.

May be, if she is planning a new album after exotic, Priyanka needs to do some serious soul searching and seek inspiration from the attributes that the country is blessed and then the world would indeed lap her up.

  • Ouch! Veena Malik takes a potshot at Poonam Pandey

    Friday, July 19, 2013 15:52 IST
    By Santa Banta News

The first look of Veena Malik-starrer "Supermodel" was released Wednesday and the poster of the film bears a clear resemblance to Poonam Pandey's "Nasha" poster, but the former claims her's is original

"I want to start by saying that look and sequences are normally copied by other films but I think this is the first time when our film's poster has been copied. You have probably seen it in 'Nasha' (poster), " Veena said here.

Veena hopes the scenes of the film are at least safe.

"When people start copying you at the start of your career, you feel kind of happy that people are copying you. So our poster has already been copied and I hope our film's sequences are safe till its release. After the release if someone copies our scenes, it would probably be a great honour for us, " she said.

Director of "Supermodel" Navin Batra too claims they have proof that they made the original poster.

"We designed this poster two months back when the shoot was still on. Our poster has been copied by 'Nasha'. We have the copy, Facebook posts and date proofs. I request the media to highlight this issue, " he said.

The film also features Ashmit Patel and has been completely shot in Fiji.

When contacted, "Nasha" director Amit Saxena told : "The posters of 'Nasha' were designed six-seven months back. I don't know why they woke up now. The digital posters were released almost seven months back. In fact, our designs were ready a year back, so there is no question of copying. "
